It seems i'm posting a bit late to this thread that seems to have wound down, but just wanted to chime in that Lovelight was one of those songs that sort of grew on me. I mean, i really dug Pigpen doing King Bee & Schoolgirl & especially Easy Wind. Lovelight, well dare i say it, it seemed to go on too long (blasphemy!); that is, i loved the jams that went on in the song, but the rap often bothered me. Anyway, that was in the early days of my listening, but as time went on (as it is wont to do), i started really digging the Pig rap, and the various cadences that he would bring to Lovelight. And now these days, if i see a Lovelight on the set list, i want to hear it, and probably explains, in part, my penchant for '69 Dead. The fact is, no one did it like the Pig, and after Jerry, he was the Man.

Fear not in revealing long lost secrets; I really loved the initial portion, especially the first jam post first lyrics (wish I knew what it was called...first verse jam, lets call it), but the rest left me flat--it was years and years into the boys before I really gave this song a chance. I always loved the way Pig and Jerry interacted on Mid Hr and to a degree, LoveLight, and a few others, but the early days with Mid Hr they really 'spoke' to each other...and that is what Ducats was speaking of, I think.

Early white boy west coast hip hop. Testify Pig.

Thanks to Mr. Arbuthnot, out of the depths of some very deep shit, a shiny, but slightly used thread is born. All in good clean fun, Will, all in good clean fun.

...Tomorrow, however is another day, and I bid you g'night.
